About the Role: As the Physiotherapy Team Leader, you will be at the heart of enhancing the physical health and quality of life for aged care residents. This role is perfect for a visionary leader who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, ask insightful questions, and implement innovative solutions to improve care practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of physiotherapists, fostering a resident-centered approach that prioritizes the highest standards of care.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized physiotherapy care plans tailored to the specific needs of elderly residents, focusing on mobility, pain management, and overall physical health.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Oversee and conduct therapeutic interventions, including exercise programs, manual therapy, and mobility aids training to enhance residents' independence and quality of life.
- Rehabilitation Programs: Design and manage rehabilitation programs, particularly for residents recovering from strokes, surgeries, or other neurological conditions.
- Resident Engagement: Promote active participation in physiotherapy activities among residents, encouraging them to maintain and improve their physical capabilities.
- Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for residents.
- Quality Improvement: Regularly review and refine physiotherapy practices, implementing best practices and innovative approaches to improve service delivery.
- Health & Safety: Ensure all physiotherapy practices adhere to health and safety regulations, safeguarding both residents and staff.
- Family Liaison: Communicate with residents’ families to keep them informed of progress and involve them in the care planning process.
- Proven experience as a Physiotherapist with a strong clinical background.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally within a healthcare or aged care setting.
- Experience in stroke/neurological rehabilitation is a plus, though not essential.
- NZ Registered Physiotherapist with a current Practising Certificate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing moving and handling tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong integrity, honesty, and reliability.
- A resident-centered approach with a commitment to high standards of care.
- Empathy and respect for diverse individuals and their unique needs.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Proactive in health and safety practices.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Fair and respectful treatment of all residents, staff, and visitors.
