Job Description
We have a new vacancy for an Occupational Therapist to be based in our client's Hamilton Centre. The Occupational Therapist will work alongside a dedicated, interdisciplinary team to provide a world-class, patient-centred service.

This is a part-time role (24 hours per week) and we are flexible about the actual days and hours of work.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in prosthetics/orthotics and rehabilitation, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with District Health Boards and other service providers.  This role requires an experienced OT who has the skills and motivation to help grow and develop our OT service in the Midland Region.

The Occupational Therapist will provide critical rehabilitation interventions, including

• identifying the patient’s functional goals, which can include self-care, home management, work tasks, driving, childcare, leisure activities,
• providing prosthetic rehabilitation assessments and plans
• providing prosthetic training
• analysing taskls and providing modifications to achieve functional goals
• providing education on compensatory techniques and equipment to accomplish tasks and activities
• identifying and addressing psychosocial issues
• provision of telehealth consultations as required

 
Desired Skills and Experience
​​​​​​We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate within an interdisciplinary team including surgeons, physiotherapists and clinical prosthetists/orthotists, as well as a wide socio-economic range of patients. 

To be considered, you must be a qualified Occupational Therapist with New Zealand registration and ideally a current driver’s licence.
